Book Review: Rage A Love Story…

I loved it.  I wish there would be a sequel, but I doubt it.  However I do wish the author would let us get to know the character’s more in-depth.  Also, I have asperger’s syndrome (AS), a mild form of autism.  I’m just going to say this outright, I wasn’t to pleased with the way Robbie (whom has High Functioning Autism, HFA) was presented.  It was nothing more than the usual autistic person whom cannot socialize at all, and that is not the truth about autism.  OK, maybe an autistic in Robbie’s situation would be like that , but still, why so stereotypical.  Another question I have to ask is that why couldn’t Robbie be a girl.  I have yet to see a representation of a girl with any form of autism in literature.  Another thing I have an issue with is that every female with AS/HFA that is presented in the media, be it literature, film, or television, is represented as asexual (save for ‘Mozart and the Whale’, I loved the movie!).  While I did love ‘Rage, A Love Story’ it was hopelessly simplistic.

Lesbian Teen Fiction…

February 21, 2010 at 3:54 pm (Books, Feminism, Lady Of Feminsim, Lesbian Literature, LGBT fiction, LGBTQ, Literature, Posts, Wikipedia)

Yes, you read right, lesbian teen fiction exists.  I found out about it not too long ago while I was surfing on Wikipedia (I LOVE WIKIPEDIA, IT ROCKS!).  I have already ordered some lesbian teen fiction titles from the library except my library does not have one that I really, really, really want [stamps foot and pouts here]!  The title they do not have is Rosemary and Juliet by Judy MacLean.  I filled out an online form on the library website though so that they can order it.  I also said they needed more lesbian teen fiction, it took a lot for me to write those three words.  The library had all of the other tiles that I wanted.  They include: Keeping you a secret : a novel, Rage : a love story, The will of the empress, and Anne on My Mind.

About Lady Of Feminism…

February 15, 2010 at 11:46 pm (Feminism, Goth, Gothic rock, Lady Of Feminism)

Okay, I really suck at first posts so…yeah.  My screen name is LadySydney4.  I live in Minnesota and I am a feminist and this blog is going to be about feminism (yes, I am aware that line really sucked).  My hobbies include jewelery making (my gravatar is actually a pendent I made), reading, blogging (obviously), baking, cooking, drawing, and writing.  My favoured bands are FlyLeaf, Evansecece, Seether, Bauhaus, and The Crüxshadows.  I also edit Wikipedia (check out my user page!) so if you have any minor issues with the site like vandalism, false info, or questions the feel free to ask me!  The reason that I am now on world press it that I use a public computer and I use to have a blog on blogger.com by the same name as this one (Lady Of Feminism, I will explain the name when I have time to tomorrow) and all of the blogs on blogger.com were blocked, including mine.  It’s not like there was anything  pornographic on my blog, the whole site was blocked for some reason.  I tried to use LiveJournal but it just didn’t work out (it wasn’t blocked).  But I seem to like the format of word press better so I’m glad to be here!
